LECESSE NEWS

United Way Day of Caring

Special thanks go out to all our volunteers who helped out at the United Way’s annual day of caring event.  Understanding that our work comes first, an additional day was needed to finish up the painting that the group home requested.  Special gratitude to those who went there twice to make sure we finished up our projects!

The ACE Mentor Program

Employees at LECESSE Construction are currently involved in the newly formed Upstate Chapter of The ACE (Architecture, Construction, and Engineering) Mentor Program of America, Inc.  ACE is a unique partnership among industry professionals who work together to attract young people to the A/C/E profession(s).  This program matches a team of A/C/E professionals with a team of High School students in order to provide hands-on learning opportunities for students wishing to pursue a degree or career in the A/C/E profession.  Industry professionals volunteer to mentor students to introduce and encourage them to pursue studies and careers in these fields in the hope to increase the future talent bases of these industries.  Shown here are photos of a recent "simulated bid" that took place at our offices in January.  Student teams competed against one another to build a top quality dog house as cost effectively as possible.

The Ronald McDonald House 2009 Holiday Giving Project was a success!!

This season, LECESSE Construction participated in the Ronald McDonald charities holiday house campaign. We adopted the wish lists of families being served by the local Ronald McDonald House and contributed to the needs of the house. A heart felt thank you goes out to all who participated and did a bit of additional shopping this holiday season for a neighbor in need.   We were able to collect a nice variety of items, gift cards and cash contributions totaling $250.00 …a warm thank you to all who helped to make the Holidays a little brighter for families dealing with illness this time of year.

Corporate Challenge

On Thursday, May 28th LECESSE employees once again joined a record number of participants for the Chase Corporate Challenge. Congratulations to the entire 2009 Team for walking or running the 3.5 mile course. A special "Well Done" to those who participated despite our wet weather. LECESSE has participated in the Corporate Challenge for the past 6 years, supporting a variety of area charities with the proceeds from this event.

American Heart Association Heart Walk

This past spring, employees of LECESSE Construction hosted a series of internal fund-raisers in support of the 2009 American Heart Association Heart Walk. In an effort to help save lives and support their mission of promoting health living, LECESSE employees pledged monies through various events that were then donated directly to the American Heart Association.

In Memory of our Friend and Colleague, Brian Zamiara

BrianZ.web.JPGTogether with the Tim and Eileen Stanton family, LECESSE has established the Brian Zamiara Leadership Award Scholarship.  Each year one Avon High School senior will be awarded a $2,000 academic scholarship.  The student chosen must exemplify some of Brian's innate attributes of motivation, interest, passion, can-do attitude and leadership.

Anyone wishing to contribute to this fund can make your check payable to "The Brian Zamiara Leadership Award c/o ACS" (Avon Central School) and send into our main office to the attention of Laura Zarcone.

American Red Cross Blood Drive - 2nd Annual

Recognizing a constant need, LECESSE Construction employees came together again with other tenants in our building to sponsor our annual  in-house Blood Drive. Thanks to our staff's enthusiastic participation, we are able to collect a prearranged goal of blood, which last year totalled 20 pints collected.  Amazingly enough, The Red Cross tells us that each pint collected has the potential to save three lives!

"It's personally satisfying to me to recognize how a simple act of giving can have such a profound affect on someone else in our community."    Lora, LECESSE employee

Tioga County Volunteer Home Repair Project

TiogaVol.crop.JPGLECESSE Construction and Providence Housing joined Tioga Outreach Center to rehabilitate homes that were seriously damaged in last summer's floods.

Over 50 volunteers in total (day 1 pictured at right) traveled to the towns of Owego, Nichols and Apalachin every day the entire week of March 26 through the 30th to help people repair and restore their homes. Skilled tradesmen volunteered their expertise and provided direction for work ranging from insulation and drywall installation, masonry, electrical and trim work to minor home repairs.

Below is a list of our associates who graciously donated money, assistance and supplies to help offset the cost of materials.
